
Burak Mert Çiloğlugil
Between 2011-2014, he worked as an Audit Assistant and Internal Audit Specialist at Ernst & Young and Borusan Makine ve Güç Sistemleri, respectively. Since 2014, he has worked at Borusan Contemporary in various roles, including “Operations Specialist,” “Communication and Events Manager,” and “Museum Manager.”
In 2016, he participated in the “International Museum Academy: UK 2016 – Audience Engagement” training program in collaboration with the British Council and National Museums Liverpool.
In 2019, he completed the “Contemporary Art and Curatorship” training program organized by Açık Diyalog İstanbul and Akbank Sanat with his exhibition project “We Deserved This” at Akbank Sanat, winning first place.
Between 2016-2018, he managed the “Günümüz Sanatı // Bir Başka” [Today’s Art // Yet Another ] event series moderated by Ebru Yetişkin, and between 2018-2019, he managed the “Thesis | Antithesis | Prosthesis” event series moderated by Ekmel Ertan at Borusan Contemporary. In 2018, he launched the Borusan Contemporary Blog. In the same year, he presented a paper titled “Like Collection Like Communication” in the “Communication Oriented Museums” event series organized by Akbank Sanat and ICTOP, and his article with the same title was published in the seminar book prepared by ICTOP in 2021. In 2022, he conducted an online interview with British photographer Tim Flach as part of the 212 Photography Istanbul festival.
Also, that year, he participated as a speaker in the “Does Metaverse Kill Art?” event as part of CIF Dialogues. In 2023, he moderated an artist talk with Mairi Pardalaki, one of Gate 27’s past residents, about the artist’s “Dünya Maskara” project at Akbank Sanat. Additionally, he served as the project coordinator for the exhibition catalogs of Borusan Contemporary’s “Water Reverie” and “Axel Hütte: Chronostasis.”
Çiloğlugil lives in Istanbul and has been working as the Director of the Gate 27 international artist in residency program since December 2022. He is also a member of International Association of Art Critics (AICA) and Social Value International.
